TD Ameritrade short circuited by switch, Nava coming soon at Pike & Rose (Photos)

TD Ameritrade's new branch at Pike & Rose, expected to open in October, was short-circuited by a switch in their Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services inspection.

The county inspector determined a missing sign-disconnect switch was a code violation. I've nevernheard of a sign disconnect switch myself. This should not hamper the opening, however.

Meanwhile, neighbor Nava Health and Vitality Center has posted Coming Soon signage ahead of its January 2016 opening.

Permit denied because of a defective sign?

I blame Dyer.

Man Bethesda is boring. Time to move.

Where to? We thought Pike and Rose would be the next Bethesda but look at city sports coding already.

7:54 - City Sports committed suicide by opening within spitting distance of Sports Authority, and now an attack from REI. They should fire their real estate rep.

I shop at both and don't really consider REI and City Sports in much competition. REI is more outdoorsy stuff for me. Sports authority and city sports yeah I can see.

The problem is that Pike & Rose in general just doesn't have the foot traffic. People may go for the movies, but that's about it. I've been by the retail stores at various times of day and it's pretty much deserted.

The situation may change once this is fully built out and there are a wider array of stores to attract shoppers there. I assume the current tenants are all getting free rent for the next 2 years since they're basically operating in a dead zone.

Now if they add some other draws, like the nice town square in Rockville complete with regular free evening events, I think they can draw more of a crowd there. I'd take my kids there if there was some kind of outdoor playground. Are they planning stuff like this for that location?

Snake oil to separate gullible rich people from their money.

Who do you think lives here? Among the most educated and highly paid people in the USA. The guy that started NAVA is a serial entrepreneur and his businesses, including this one, are very successful. Snake oil it isn't. A whole wellness experience, it is. They will do huge business at Pike and Rose. Demographic next to Rockville, Bethesda, Potomac will ensure that's the case.
