Bethesda residents, businesses team up to dodge diabetes March 22

Bethesda residents Anna Tiedeman Irwin and Elizabeth Kramer Dugan have more than a hometown in common; they each have a brother with Type 1 diabetes. And every year for the last decade, they've been trying to do something about it.

Sunday, March 22, they'll be hosting their 10th Annual Dodging Diabetes Charity Dodgeball Tournament, and aiming to raise $35,000 for JDRF and the Joslin Diabetes Center. If successful, that would bring the event's proceeds' 10-year total to more than $150,000.

Why dodgeball?

"Seriously, who doesn’t love dodgeball? And why not play dodgeball for a good cause?," asked President and Founder of Dodging Diabetes Anna Tiedeman Irwin. "Our community is proud to play together for a good cause and look at all the medical innovations on the horizon for people with diabetes – there is so much worth dodging for."

This year's tournament is sponsored by Constellix and supporting sponsors: New Signature, DLA Piper, National Geographic, Bethesda's Honest Tea, Adaptive Methods, General Mills, Tandem, The Compost Crew and Renard Photography.

Want to help this cause?

Assemble your team of 6 players over the age of 18, and register it online at the tournament website. Then get ready to take on the competition - and diabetes - at Get Good Fieldhouse in Laurel March 22.
